Men's Ring Size Guide: How to Measure at Home (UK Sizes Explained)
Buying a ring online means getting the size right without anyone there to check it for you. It only takes a few minutes to measure properly at home, but it's worth doing carefully - especially with a titanium or tungsten ring, where getting the size right the first time matters more than it does with a softer metal.
Why this matters more with titanium and tungsten
Gold and silver are soft enough that a jeweller can often stretch or shrink them slightly if a ring doesn't quite fit. Titanium and tungsten are prized for being strong and scratch resistant, but that same hardness means they generally can't be resized once they're made. That's not a reason to worry - it's just a reason to spend five minutes getting an accurate measurement before you order, rather than guessing.
How to measure your ring size at home
All you need is a strip of paper or a piece of string, a ruler, and the finger you'll be wearing the ring on.
- Cut a thin strip of paper or string, about 10cm long.
- Wrap it snugly around the base of your finger - snug enough that it doesn't slide off, but not pulled tight.
- Mark the point where it overlaps itself with a pen.
- Lay it flat and measure the length in millimetres with a ruler. That's your finger's circumference.
- Match that measurement against the UK size chart below.
If you already own a ring that fits the same finger well, you can skip straight to measuring its inside diameter instead - lay it on a ruler and measure across the inner edge.
The two mistakes that throw the measurement off
The result is only as good as the measurement, and there are two things that most commonly skew it:
- Only measuring once. Fingers change size slightly through the day - often smaller in the morning, larger later on. Measure two or three times at different points in the day and use the largest of the results, rather than trusting a single reading.
- Leaving too much slack in the loop. If the paper or string isn't snug against the skin, the measurement comes out larger than your actual size. It should sit close to the finger without pinching, not hang loose.
UK & US ring size chart
Once you have your finger's circumference in millimetres, use the chart below to find your UK letter size - or your nearest US size, if that's what you're used to. US sizes are rounded to the nearest common half size, so treat them as a close approximation rather than an exact conversion.

Ring size varies a lot from person to person and finger to finger - the same person can easily need a different size on their left and right hand, so it's always worth measuring the specific finger you'll be wearing the ring on.
Does band width change your size?
Yes. A wider band sits against more of your finger, so it feels snugger than a narrower band at the exact same size - it's about how much skin the ring is in contact with, not just the internal diameter. If you're used to wearing a slim band and you're moving to something wider - an 8mm ring instead of a 4mm one, for example - you may find you need to go up a size to get the same feel. What comfort fit means for sizing
All Vincent Faith rings are comfort fit, meaning the inside edge is gently rounded rather than flat. It's a small difference, and it shouldn't change the size you need compared with a flat-interior ring - but it does make the ring easier to slide over the knuckle and generally more comfortable to wear for long periods.
Between two sizes? Size up
If your measurement lands between two letter sizes, we'd recommend going with the larger one. Hands naturally warm up and swell a little through the day, so a size that feels snug first thing in the morning can feel tight by the evening. A ring that's very slightly loose is a much easier fix than one that's too tight.
